The People Have Spoken - Blog OUT! Website IN!

It's only 1 week into the Naked Workshops 2.0 and I just wasn't pleased with the layout. I played around with a new format, polled you guys, and you all unanimously voted for the new website layout over the blog format.

I'm hoping that as early as tomorrow I will have the new site up and running. The old site will continue to exist, but it will be assigned a new URL. All of the new stuff from this point forward will be on the new site.

I hope that the new site allows all of the interactivity of the old site - and maybe more.

Checking In On Your New Year's Resolutions

Weight and our bodies. Most people are not happy with their weight and have tried all sorts of things from diets to surgery to lose their weight. I'm a proponent of the "every body is beautiful" mindset, but with that way of thinking, there are pitfalls.

I received news this past weekend that a co-worker from another job had died. He was 40 years old, roughly 280 lbs and 5'8". His weight caused a lot of problems with his cardiovascular and skeletal systems. He was diabetic and didn't keep it in check. He popped pain pills like candy to dull the pain in his back. Along with all of this came waves of depression because of the state of his body.

Whatever the state of your body, start being good to it. It's your vehicle that's going to take you through the rest of your life. Some of you know that I work in a hospital during the day. A nurse gave me the best piece of wisdom regarding taking care of your body. "You shouldn't watch your food intake and exercise to avoid getting sick. Most everyone gets sick. You want to take care of your body so that it's healthy so that when you DO get sick, you bounce back and recover quicker."

I've started my own journey towards health. Since December 1 2008, I've lost 26 lbs, and I have about another 24 to go. I've been doing it by taking photographs of everything that I eat and posting it to a blog - www.snapitfatty.com. I'm thrilled with the results and have not felt healthier in ages.

However you need to do it, do something nice for your body today. And tomorrow. And the day after that. I want you around a long time.

Here's how Tom described the class to me:
GREETING CARD WORKSHOP. For birthdays, holidays, invitations, etc. We supply the blank cards/envelopes. Using porno magazines for our inspiration. This is based on collage, but there is also some tracing and interpretation.

It will make for a fun, re-introduction into Tom's art classes, and will help build for future classes. We are talking about another monoprinting workshop along with a series of life drawing classes.

Tom will provide the studio, all materials, supplies, and instruction.

Dev Patel's mother urged him to get naked for his big break into stardom, she has revealed.

Anita Patel, 45, said her 18-year-old son - currently winning plaudits for his starring role in Slumdog Millionaire - was nervous about baring all for his breakthrough role in Channel 4 teen drama Skins.

She said she did not mind him appearing nude in the show, which featured frequent storylines about sex and drugs. "He was apprehensive when he found out he'd have to appear naked," she told Woman's Own magazine. "He said, 'Oh God I am going to have to show my bum!'. I told him 'it's only a bum, you've seen lots of people's bums before'."

Mrs Patel said her son, who will go head-to-head with Hollywood stars Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Mickey Rourke for the best actor prize at Sunday's Baftas, is an ordinary teenager at home.

I'm thinking of hosting an event, and I think the guest list is going to end up an even split between newbies and long time nudists. I remember that you hosted a couple of events aimed at getting new people comfortable with social nudity and you said they started the evening dressed and ended up naked. I was just curious what you did. Was there some set time when clothes came off or were people just left on their own? I just want to make sure I don't make the new people uncomfortable by rushing them. And I also the opposite situation where it feels like the clothed guy at the nudist beach clearly just there to look at naked people. So, any advice? Thanks. Looking forward to more site updates!

Ah, the dilemma of new nudes. In the "Naked Newbie" workshops we held, there was also a mix of guys who had never been nude socially before and guys who were long time nudists. The workshop started out with everyone clothed, there was some lecture, some clothes were removed, checked in with everyone to make sure that they were OK, talked a little more, removed another article, etc. Rinse & Repeat until everyone was nude.

If I were in your shoes (if nudists wore shoes), he's what I'd do:

Have your newbies come an hour early. Introduce yourself while clothed. Give everyone a cocktail or drink. Intros all around. 15 minutes later, everyone takes off their shirts. Another round of drinks and ask for some help in the kitchen, or light candles, etc. This will get guys used to moving around naked. (Some are fine naked if they can stay in one place, but then freeze up when they have to move about.) 15 minutes later, everyone has to get naked except for one item of their choice. More milling about, show off the house, let them know where everything is (bathrooms, extra ice, where guests will put clothes, etc.). 10 minutes before the party, everyone gets completely naked. When the seasoned nudists arrive, have the newbies help direct where to leave clothing, pour drinks, serve food, etc.

Fines introduced for naked hikers

A local Swiss government has introduced a fines system to halt the increase in naked hikers.

Authorities in Appenzell Innerrhoden will penalise anyone found walking without clothes in the mountains because of a recent influx of visiting German nudists.

"We were forced to introduce the legislation against this indecent practice before the warm weather starts," justice minister Melchior Looser told The Guardian. "The point is many children visit our mountains in the summer."

A naked rambler was caught and detained in the region in 2008, but authorities were unable to prosecute because it was not outlawed at the time.

Thanks to your persistence, words of encouragement and a long break away from Naked Workshops, I decided it's time to come back. I can't promise that there will be daily videos, news and pictures every day. I'm going to cut back the number of workshops hosted each year at first. I think I was doing too much on the site daily and it just wore me down.

I'll start introducing new tools so that you guys can interact with each other. I'm starting a Facebook group where you can chat with each other. Details on that coming soon.

Meanwhile, those of you who wish to send in your personal pictures, I encourage you to do so. I've got plenty of "man-pics" to get me started, but it's always great to see and hear what my readers are up to.

Maybe I just needed a year off. I'm thinking of revamping Naked Workshops and starting it again.

It's been a wonderful year away from Naked Workshops. I started some new projects, spent more time by myself (which was desperately needed) and did some traveling. Ultimately, I missed my daily posts and the workshops. There were many of you who also say you missed the blog, so I'm going to bring it back.

This time I won't deny the sensual part of the male nude. The last time around I tried to keep the site above a certain standard. While I won't be showing flat out pornography on this site I won't deny that most of us are here to look at guys in the buff. Enjoy.

As for the workshops, I'm going to bring those back as well. I'll probably scale back in the number of workshops I do each year - the enormity of coordinating all of those workshops one after another just got tiring.

If you're a longtime reader, welcome back. If you're new, glad that you found us. Now, take your clothes off and delve in.

Naked Workshops was born out of a naked movie night with some friends over 2 years ago. During the past two years, I have produced workshops in bartending, cooking, crafts, Ukrainian egg decorating (twice!), blogging, yoga, fitness, massage, legal & medical advice, art classes and several others that I'm probably forgetting at the moment. I've learned alot, I've done alot. I got over my body issues and I think I helped several other men get over theirs. I'm very proud of kickstarting Naked Yoga in Cleveland, and am happy that it remains one of the country's most attended yoga classes. (The men of Cleveland are awesome.)

Your Naked journey shouldn't end here. In this blog and at the workshops, I've continually urged others to start their own movie nights, get togethers, parties and workshops. I hope that some of you will carry on the message and host your own events. It only takes a couple of guys to throw a party and drop their pants to get started.

The blog allowed me to harvest more pictures than I could possibly ever appreciate and it taught me how to keep up with technology.

I'm not sure what I want to do next. It will be odd not updating the website every morning, or sorting through 300 pictures a day. I will continue to attend naked events and will probably host a few now and then, but I don't see myself organizing any more naked events in the future.

I'll leave the blog up for another month or so, so that you can download all of the pics that you want.

San Francisco's Center For Sex and Culture will be staging a "masturbate-a-thon" on May 28th. Participants from outside SF are invited to take part via their home cams. The event will be streamed live online.

The story of the Masturbate-a-thon. TV's 'Naked Office' asks workers to strip

LONDON, May 6 (UPI) -- The producers of the new British reality show "Naked Office" say they are hunting for companies willing to have their employees shed their clothes.

Producers said the show, set for broadcast on BBC3, will first interview office employees to establish their thoughts on the subject of nudity. Then, over the course of several weeks, some will be asked to participate in life-drawing classes to help them become accustomed to public nakedness, The Sun reported Tuesday.

The show will climax with employees being asked to participate in a "Naked Friday" event at the office. The producers said in a letter inviting companies to participate that the nude work day would be a "very productive day as well as a day to remember."

The purpose of the program is to analyze attitudes toward nudity, body image and the role of clothing in office hierarchy, the producers said.
